From Certified Diamontologist to Artist: The Story Behind My Latest Gemstone Art Prints

In a past life, I worked in a jewelry store. I even became a certified diamontologist and learned how to determine the “4 C’s” of diamonds and gemstones, a universal grading system used and taught by the Diamond Council of America (DCA): Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. Oh and yes, I do have a plaque with my name on it, thanks for asking.

That experience paired with a hobby interest in crystals and their potential powers was the inspiration for my Gemstone Collection.

I began the series in May of 2024, starting with 12 birthstone paintings. (Fun fact: Blue Topaz was the first gemstone I painted for this collection!) Some months actually have multiple birthstones, so naturally I had to add those next. Then I painted some of my favorite crystals and recommendations from friends. Over the next two years, the collection grew from 12, to 34, to 50, forming a grid of original gemstone paintings on my home studio wall.

When I reached 50, I finally realized that 50 is not a grid-friendly number for a wall gallery, and decided that 64 gemstones would be better. I began painting the final 14 stones, taking a small break to move from Utah to my new home in Santa Barbara, California, and officially finished the series in April of 2026 – just in time to hang them up on the wall of my new art room!

I’m excited to announce that I now have high-quality art prints available for all 14 of the newest paintings, including my favorite Jasper gemstone painting I’ve made so far! Check out each of them below, and add a little bit of my DCA-certified magic to your home.

My gemstone prints make great gifts for anyone who loves crystals and crystal healing, gemstones, or geology. Birthstone prints are perfect for birthdays, mother’s day, or anniversaries, and at a price much more affordable than jewelry!
